The Details
This project involved the comprehensive refurbishment and upgrade of a 4,500m² car park, addressing long-term surface failure while improving drainage performance and future-proofing the site for electric vehicle use. Works included breaking out and replacing existing surfacing & sub-base, extensive excavations ,targeted earthworks to optimise surface water run-off, and the installation of upgraded filtration drainage systems.
A key element of the scheme was the safe removal of asbestos-contaminated sub-base material. This was carried out using specialist contractors and controlled excavation methods, ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and allowing the site to be safely remediated.
The project also delivered significant new electrical infrastructure, including the installation of new HV and LV substations to support increased power demand. Alongside this, two existing 7.5kW vehicle charging units were relocated, twelve new 22kW Quantum vehicle chargers installed, and two 50kW rapid vehicle charging points added. Passive infrastructure was incorporated to allow for future expansion of the charging network.
Our scope included all groundworks, drainage, kerbing, paving, and associated electrical infrastructure installation across three key areas of the site: the central car park, service access road, and southern service road. Delivered in close coordination with specialist partners, the project provides a safe, resilient, and future-ready car park while supporting the transition to sustainable transport.
